Semperfli 1 Gram CDC Boxes

Semperfli Bulk CDC provides a generous 1 gram of carefully selected CDC feathers, packed in a protective box rather than compressed into a packet. CDC is prized for its remarkable natural properties, but delicate fibres can easily become flattened or crushed during storage. Our boxes give the feathers room to retain their natural shape, structure and mobility, so they are ready to use straight from the box.

CDC — Cul de Canard — is one of the most versatile natural materials available to the fly tyer. Its exceptionally fine fibres trap air and create a wonderfully lifelike appearance on or immediately beneath the surface. The material is soft, mobile and ideal whenever a fly needs natural movement with minimal bulk.

Uses for Semperfli CDC

CDC can be used for:

• Dry-fly wings – natural, lightweight wings for olives, mayflies, midges and sedges.

• Emerger wings – ideal for imitating insects trapped in or breaking through the surface film.

• CDC posts – highly visible yet delicate posts for parachute patterns.

• Bodies – twisted or dubbed CDC creates naturally mobile bodies.

• Thoraxes – fine fibres provide movement without excessive bulk.

• Hackles – wound CDC produces soft, mobile legs and excellent surface presence.

• Legs – individual fibres create subtle movement in nymphs and emergers.

• Collars – excellent for soft, mobile collars on emergers, nymphs and wet flies.

• Underwings – useful for adding volume and natural translucency without excessive weight.

• Sedge and caddis patterns – particularly effective for wings and emerging pupae.

• Mayfly and olive patterns – ideal for duns, emergers and cripple imitations.

• Midge and buzzer patterns – fine fibres suit small, sparse flies.

• Nymphs – CDC adds subtle movement to thoraxes, legs and collars beneath the surface.

• Stillwater patterns – useful wherever soft movement and trapped air enhance the impression of life.

Because CDC fibres respond to the slightest movement of air and water, they can bring life to extremely sparse patterns. It is particularly effective for flies designed to sit in the surface film rather than simply on top of it.

Boxed to Protect the Feather

The packaging is deliberate. Rather than tightly compressing CDC into a conventional packet, Semperfli Bulk CDC is supplied loose in a protective box, helping prevent delicate feathers and fibres from being crushed during storage and transport.

Open the box, select the feather you need and start tying.
