Simple, expendable, effective. These three words describe my Mole Fly to a T. Without a doubt the most dependable fly in my arsenal, the Mole is the pattern I pull out any time I see fish rising to baetis or midges. I've often joked that I should have called this fly "No Fun", because it's never let me down and there is never a question in my mind if the fish will eat it. They ALWAYS eat it. Owing to its soft, porous body hanging below the surface film and the realistic attitude on the water, the Mole fools even the toughest fish time and time again. While not a fly that was designed ahead of time, this simple combination of common materials turns out to be perhaps the most effective hatch matching pattern I have ever used.
