The Boat Anchor Scud is a pattern that I'm never without, regardless of where I'm fishing or what the season is. We originally started using this fly for it's sheer weight, but quickly found out that trout have a sweet tooth for the orange/pink color of this pattern! The weight of this fly is very helpful in getting down to the bottom, and oftentimes you won't have to use any additional weight on your leader. From the Bighorn River to Rapid Creek, this is a pattern I'm never without! Tie in sizes 8-16, with 12-14 being most popular.
