Looking forward to using it...BUT first before you go......
Improvements needed:
1 The scew should be made of stainless steel, not soft aluminum. Unless you use something that fits the screw head...a US quarter will mar the screw head slot and leave a rough edge in the slot.
2 The spools SHOULD be made of clear plastic so you can see how much tippet is left/on the spool
3 Better QC is needed for the spools. There are remnants of plastic left on each spool from the mold. These create 'hang nails' that can hook the material as the spools unwind. I had to trim and smooth all eight spools to eliminate these points.
4 NO INSTRUCTIONS/ILLUSTRATIONS how to fill/wind material on the spools?? Are you kidding me!!! The spools can be installed in two ways. Which is correct?? Literally....go figure it out!! There is plenty of room on the inside of the package label to print/show the correct way for spool install...but nooooo! Nothing, zip, bumpkin...
5 Finally, Stonfo SHOULD include some sort of mandrel to fit the holds of the spools that would allow you to put each spool in a drill and wind material on the spool. I made mine out of wood, c'on Stonfo!
6 And finally, how about a small sheet of 'stick-on' lables to ID each spool with material size. Couldn't possible increase the price but would make this the 'complete' package and a really great value.
What I like about it-
1 Great idea, consolidates and eliminates typical spool holders!
2 Just the right size with ample number of spools for a complete selection of tippet sizes. Spools hold more than enough material.
3 Well designed...generally speaking...keeps spools from 'free wheeling'. Material stays nice and snug on the spool and does not unwind
4 Cutter on both sides...well done. Cuts leave right amout of material to pull out the next time. (Sure wish the spools were clear see thru)
5 In general, shows Stonfo's 'out of the box' thinking & problem solving for fly fishermen- innovation, but could be better. I bet the competition will do it better
Thank you Stonfo
