Whiting Midge Saddle Silver Grade

The Whiting Midge Saddle Silver Grade is genetic dry fly hackle bred for small flies. Whiting labels saddles as Midge when the feathers tie size 18 and smaller.

It's the saddle for midges, Griffith's Gnats, small parachutes, and Trico spinners, the flies that fool picky trout on tailwaters and spring creeks through the winter and on summer mornings. The feathers have stiff, evenly sized barbs and fine stems that wrap cleanly on small hooks.

About Whiting grades: Whiting grades saddles by how many flies they'll tie, not by feather quality. From entry level up, the grades run Pro Grade, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Silver sits above Pro Grade and Bronze, with more and longer feathers per saddle, so it's a strong choice for tiers who go through a lot of small flies.
