I can't recall where I first came across this simple pattern, but it has been very effective for selective fish feeding on midge pupa in the surface film. I grease the cdc wing and the fly hangs in the film. It is perfect for the start of a midge hatch when the rise forms are barely visible- just small dimples on the water's surface.
