Black Hills Fishing Report May 10th 2024
All in all things are in great shape. Don't sleep on fishing right now. Between Blue Winged Olive hatches and some lingering little black stonefly hatches, fish will be willing to eat dry flies. Baetis hatches will be better with cloud cover.
Recent rains have bumped flows in Rapid Creek above Pactola and Spearfish Creek in Spearfish Canyon. Water could be stained above Pactola on Rapid Creek, however Spearfish should be less so. No rain is forecasted for the next couple of days so flows should drop slowly and any stained water will clear.
All streams are in decent shape and fishing relatively well right now.
Lake fishing continues to be good. Pactola, Sheridan, Deerfield, and Center Lakes are fishing very well. Balance Leeches under an indicator is a great technique for any lake in the Hills. Fishing an intermediate sinking line with a slow retrieve can produce great results, however this is best done from a boat or float tube.
