Rapid Creek: Midges are hatching throughout Rapid City and fishing in town remains relatively consistent. A few baetis are starting to show up throughout the creek. The little black stones are hatching regularly below the dam. Nymph fishing in town with a flashback pheasant tail and zebra midges has been goo. Fishing below Pactola reservoir has been solid. Fish blood worms, san juans, and scuds. These bigger bugs are best fished with a trailer of a wd-40 or bubble back midge.
Spring Creek: Wait until next year.
Castle Creek: Castle Creek is opening up and should start fishing well. Look for early black stonefly hatches on warmer afternoons. This is one of the best hatches this creek sees all year.
Spearfish Creek: High Water for the next few days- snow melt will bring levels up over the next few days. Fishing in the canyon and associated tributaries has been good- with little sunlight making it into the canyon it can be quite chilly. Midge hatches are common the afternoon and little black stones are coming off too. Nymphing has been the best producer during the day. Nymphing with a san juan and a wd-40 dropper or a red fox squirrel nymph will bring the fish out to play. Fishing throughout the city of Spearfish has also been very good.
Crow Creek: Great time to fish this spring creek before it gets weedy this summer. Hatches of midges and baetis will occur regularly. Caddis hatches are on too.
Sand Creek: This spring creek just across the border in Wyoming is also fishing well. Good aerly season spot. Fewer weeds to tangle with this time of year.
Custer State Park: Get your Ice fishing gear.
Deerfield Lake: Frozen.
Sheridan Lake:
The Lake is open and while the water temps are cold, a few fish are being taken on streamers.
Pactola Lake:
The lake is open and fishing well. Fish Streamers and dries on top.
